In this area of MusicQuest, we focus on a track that, in my opinion, has reached PERFECT SONG STATUS -- one that is especially worthy of praise and applause. The Tea Club's "If I Mean When" from their 2019 "If / When" album meets the criteria for this accolade because it's beautiful, inviting, musically interesting, and perfect in every way.

When I was a little kid in the 1960s, we would play over and over a favorite "single" that an artist or band released on a small vinyl record that we called a "45," which was (and still is) shorthand for forty-five revolutions per minute. These little, inexpensive records were/are seven inches in diameter whereas a full-size vinyl album is twelve inches. The idea for this special feature in MusicQuest is to showcase a great song, treating it with respectful admiration just like we did back-in-the-day when we bought a single 45 and then played it at home several times a day.

The Tea Club is an American five piece band from New Jersey. From their website: "The band is fronted by the songwriting team of brothers Patrick and Dan McGowan whose unorthodox guitar playing and fervent singing form the core of the group’s unique style. Bassist Jamie Wolff and drummer Dan Monda draw upon their shared love of dynamics and melody to create a raucously sophisticated rhythm section. Joe Dorsey helms the keyboards and brings boundless energy, virtuosity, and a forward-thinking approach to the compositions."

I cannot say enough good things about the song "If I Mean When." I hope it becomes one of your favorites!
