Leonid & Friends from Moscow, Russia

We have all heard someone say that a certain band's cover of a well known song -- think Elton John's version of "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" from 1974 -- was actually better than the original version or at least as good. Suppose someone told you that there is an exceptionally talented group of musicians located in Moscow, Russia who just a few years ago organized themselves into a cover band for much of Chicago's discography that has now morphed into the best tribute band of all time at a level you have to see to believe. Most people would think such a scenario implausible at best if not pure fiction, but that has actually happened! Before we go any further, watch the three videos below that were recorded in Moscow because the prowess and integration of these musicians is off the charts!

If you have watched these videos, then you now understand that this "COVER BAND" is exceedingly atypical; they are creating and recording music that exemplifies the highest levels of excellence, from the singing to the orchestration to the production.  Leonid & Friends is likely the rarest phenomenon in the world of music at this time. I was glad to learn that they regularly tour North America. My wife and I are going to see them in Dallas at the Majestic Theater on October 22, 2024. About the links below: the first one on the left directs the viewer to the Leonid & Friends YouTube Channel; the second one to their official website; the third one (with the i) to an excellent, comprehensive video of the band's formation and membership; the second "i" to another superb overview; the last button to their social media page.   Charles Calvin Best

UPDATE: We have now attended a Leonid & Friends performance in Dallas (mentioned above), and we were blown away at how good this band sounds and their hugely energetic approach to reproducing their favorite American songs. I found their cover of Steely Dan's "My Old School" to be breathtaking. The verdict is in: this band is truly one of a kind and deserves our applause and respect!
